Havelock extended the longest winning streak in 3A Coastal this week by beating South Central, 41-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Rams.
Washington was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Pam-Pack triumphed over White Oak 34-0.
Conley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Davis Kirkpatrick threw for 194 and two touchdowns and Bryant Beaulieu had 115 yards receiving. On the ground Walker Cummings chipped in 112 yards. Jakeel Andrews helped Conley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 79 yards.
Havelock's Pharoh Cooper and Michael Bowman have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cooper has thrown for 1548 yards this season, while Bowman, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 26 catches for 443 yards. Trevor Festerman from West Carteret leads the league in rushing with 1003 yards.
The Vikings' Cummings is a mere 79 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 140 carries Cummings has accumulated 921 yard this year.
A big matchup in 3A Coastal this week will be when Jim Bob Bryant's team takes on Jacksonville. As it stands, the Rams are in first, while the Cardinals are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Havelock takes on Jacksonville. The Rams have allowed 107 points this season, while Beau Williams' team has given up 114. Havelock allowed 7 points last week as it defeated the Falcons.
The Cardinals and West Craven played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Cardinals eventually emerging with a 23-21 victory.
