Baseball Game Preview: Point Loma Pointers vs. San Dimas Saints

The Point Loma Pointers will face off against the San Dimas Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Point Loma has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Point Loma is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over El Camino Real. That's two games straight that the Pointers have won by exactly two runs.

Point Loma let Hunter Reddeg and Dylan Upjohn run wild. Reddeg got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Upjohn went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. What's more, Reddeg posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ben Waterman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Point Loma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Camino Real only posted an OBP of .300.

San Dimas came out on top against St. Joseph on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Saints walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Knights.

Point Loma's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-12-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for San Dimas, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season.
