Basketball Recap: Takoma Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Takoma Academy entered their tilt with Parkside on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 72-61 win over the Parkside Eagles. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 96th in Maryland, while the Eagles are ranked 13th in District of Columbia).

Despite the loss, Parkside still got an impressive performance from Colby Murphy, who posted 28 points. The game was Murphy's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daiquan Smith, who put up ten points.

Takoma Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Parkside, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 18-9 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Takoma Academy will square off against Southern Maryland Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Takoma Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Southern Maryland Christian Academy likes a good challenge. Parkside has already played their next game (against KIPP College Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
