Matthew Barata and Dj Rivera secure win for Fletcher

Recap: Fletcher Senators vs. Englewood Rams

The Fletcher Senators won the last time they faced the Englewood Rams, and things went their way on Thursday too. Fletcher took down Englewood 56-42.

Fletcher was led to victory by Matthew Barata and Dj Rivera. Barata scored 14 points, while Rivera scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Rivera continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Sam Perry was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Englewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Thomas. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevon Roulhac, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Fletcher's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Englewood, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fletcher on the road again on Tuesday and play against Raines at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Raines presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fletcher in Florida (Raines is ranked 67th, while Fletcher is ranked 351st). As for Englewood, they will head out on the road to square off against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
