Softball Recap: Owen Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Owen had won four straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 14-3 to make it five. They blew past the Madison Patriots 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Neal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Owen let Mia Roland and Elly Wright run wild. Roland went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI, while Wright got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Norton, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBI.

As for Madison, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since March 3rd.

On Madison's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Sams, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Coming up, Owen will venture away from home to challenge Mitchell at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warhorses' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountaineers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. Madison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
