Football Game Preview: Leipsic Vikings vs. Columbus Grove Bulldogs

Leipsic has won seven straight games at home, while Columbus Grove has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Vikings will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.

Leipsic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Pandora-Gilboa by a score of 30-20.

Meanwhile, Columbus Grove won against Gibsonburg two weeks ago with 28 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over Lima Central Catholic. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Columbus Grove's win came from a few key players Leipsic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trevon Baxter, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, he posted two receiving touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Landon Best was another key player, throwing for 128 yards and two TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Columbus Grove didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lima Central Catholic to a completion percentage of just 47.8%. Given Best's standout performance, it's clear the Thunderbirds' secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Leipsic's record now sits at 11-1. As for Columbus Grove, their record is now 9-3.

Leipsic lost to Columbus Grove at home by a decisive 28-14 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2023. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
