Preview: Stratton Eagles vs. Cheyenne Wells Tigers

Stratton has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Cheyenne Wells Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Stratton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 396 points over their last seven games.

Stratton extended their postseason success on Saturday against Idalia. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 54-0 win over the Wolves. Stratton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 matchups by 33 points or more this season.

Cyler Notter got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Stockton Fye, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells faced Otis in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cheyenne Wells snuck past Otis with a 66-60 victory on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for Cheyenne Wells who now have five in a row.

It was another big night for Trey Scheler, who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Scheler is absolutely dominating the solo tackle category: he's posted at least six every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethen Garay, who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns.

Stratton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-2 Otis and 7-4 Sierra Grande (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.4% over those games). As for Cheyenne Wells, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Stratton against Cheyenne Wells when the teams last played back in August as the squad secured a 65-16 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stratton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
