Softball Preview: Union Wildcats vs. Hillsboro Hawks

The Union Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Hillsboro Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Union beat Hermann 10-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Hillsboro entered their tilt with Kirkwood on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Pioneers onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

Ashley Hilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits every time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

In other batting news, Haylie Boyette was excellent, going 1-for-1 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Hillsboro didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've posted since back in September of 2023.
