After a string of four wins, Jefferson Independent Day's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pierce City Eagles by a score of 52-50. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-42 two weeks ago.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kohl Thurman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Jack Twiss, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points.

Jefferson Independent Day's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Pierce City, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Jefferson Independent Day will face off against Northeast Vernon County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson Independent Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Pierce City, they will take on Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Pierce City surely won't give up without a fight.
