Marquette Catholic took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Althoff Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Explorers had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Explorers have posted since March 17th.

Will Fahnestock was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Mathew Cain, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Marquette Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Althoff Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Althoff Catholic will square off against Gibault Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
