Recap: Anderson County Mavericks vs. William Blount Governors

The Anderson County Mavericks pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of William Blount. While losing is never fun, Anderson County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while William Blount is ranked 18th).

William Blount had a senior duo take command as Caden Windle scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and Grady Robertson scored 23 points along with six assists. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Windle has scored at least 25% of William Blount's points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Scarlett, who scored eight points.

Anderson County's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for William Blount, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Anderson County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carter at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. William Blount will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Lakeshore at 4:30 p.m. on December 27th. Lakeshore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully William Blount likes a good challenge.
