Football Recap: Derek Hooker Key Part of Team Effort in Seahawks Win

The Cape Coral Seahawks earned a 34-26 victory over the Lemon Bay Manta Rays on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seahawks.

Cape Coral's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Hooker, who threw for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. That's the most passing yards Hooker has posted since back in September of 2024. Cape Coral's leading receiver Vincent Miranda was Hooker's top target yet again, picking up 46 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Loss or not, Lemon Bay got some senior leadership from Carlos Serrano and Drew Moormann. Serrano rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns, while Moormann rushed for 134 yards and one TD.

Cape Coral's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Lemon Bay, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Coral will challenge Bonita Springs at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th. As for Lemon Bay, they will square off against Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th.
