Softball Recap: Winfield Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Winfield had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Douglass Bulldogs by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Brooklynn Mortimer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Douglass' record now sits at 3-8.

While Winfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
