Basketball Recap: Vallejo Comes Up Short

Vallejo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pinole Valley Spartans. The Redhawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 69-56.

Jaylin Reed was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine boards for Pinole Valley. Another player making a difference was Jordin Broas-Jew, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Vallejo's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Pinole Valley, their record now sits at 10-14.

Vallejo will take on Bethel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pinole Valley, they will face off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Pinole Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
