Basketball Game Preview: Selma Bears vs. Arroyo Grande Eagles

The Selma Bears and the Arroyo Grande Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Selma has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Arroyo Grande will come in with four straight victories.

Selma is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Hanford last Tuesday. Selma took an 80-64 bruising from Hanford. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1041st, while the Bullpups are ranked 240th).

Meanwhile, Arroyo Grande posted their closest win since December 7, 2023 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Polytechnic 49-46.

Selma's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Arroyo Grande, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Selma lost to Arroyo Grande on the road by a decisive 61-42 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2015. Can Selma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
