Recap: Gibbs Eagles vs. Carter Green Hornets

The Gibbs Eagles pushed their score all the way to 70 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to Carter. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (69), Gibbs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Gibbs lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zack Turner. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 4 assists. Turner has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamen Shown, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Gibbs has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. As for Carter, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-16.

Gibbs will take on South-Doyle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gibbs has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while South-Doyle will arrive with five straight wins. As for Carter, they will head out on the road to challenge Powell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carter is coming into the game with four straight victories on the road, meaning Powell will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
