Basketball Recap: SA Roosevelt Takes a Loss

SA Roosevelt lost against Reagan back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders took a 62-43 bruising from the Reagan Rattlers. The contest marked the Rough Riders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, SA Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Shai Markajani, who posted nine points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isiah Blackman-Houston, who earned seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reagan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matt Velasquez, who had nine points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Garrison, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

SA Roosevelt dropped their record down to 7-7 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Reagan, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

SA Roosevelt will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Johnson at 12:30 p.m. on December 31st. Johnson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season. Reagan will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Madison at 12:30 p.m. on December 31st. Reagan has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three games.
