Baseball Recap: Mcfarland Has No Trouble Against Del Oro

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delano, McFarland was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Del Oro Suns with a sharp 16-2 win. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Nathan Ortega made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McFarland is 2-0-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Ortega was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julian Medina was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Giovanni Rivera was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

McFarland's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6-1. As for Del Oro, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

McFarland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-7 defeat against Delano on the 8th. As for Del Oro, they have also already played their next match, a 13-0 loss against Arvin on the 8th.
