Baseball Game Preview: Boerne Greyhounds vs. Alamo Heights Mules

The Boerne Greyhounds will venture away from home to challenge the Alamo Heights Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Boerne has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, Boerne didn't have quite enough to beat Boerne-Champion and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Alamo Heights suffered their closest defeat since March 7th on Saturday. They fell just short of Cornerstone Christian by a score of 13-11. Even though they lost, the Mules' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Luke Spielhagen led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Alamo Heights is 2-1 when Spielhagen posts two or more runs, but 4-11-1 otherwise. William Bishop also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Spielhagen wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Alamo Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matches.

Alamo Heights has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12-1 record this season. Boerne's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Boerne beat Alamo Heights 5-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Does Boerne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alamo Heights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
