Basketball Recap: Sankofa Freedom Academy Piles Up the Points Against Liguori Academy

Sankofa Freedom Academy's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Constitution on Thursday. The Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors claimed a resounding 51-22 victory over the Liguori Academy Falcons. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd in Pennsylvania, while the Falcons are ranked 396th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sankofa Freedom Academy was led to victory by Asim Hardy and Sammad West. Hardy posted nine points, while West earned nine points and three blocks. The dominant performance also gave West a new career-high in steals (two). Terrence Fortson was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Liguori Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Divine Scott-Allen had nine points.

Sankofa Freedom Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Liguori Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12.

As of now, neither Sankofa Freedom Academy nor Liguori Academy have any future games scheduled.
