Softball Game Preview: Pace Vikings vs. Porter Cowboys

The Pace Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Porter Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pace will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Thursday, Pace made easy work of Donna and carried off a 17-1 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Luna Juarez looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Valeria Alvarado was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Alejandro, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Meanwhile, Porter fell victim to Rivera and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 13-0. The Cowboys have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Pace's win bumped their record up to 24-0-1. As for Porter, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Porter's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Pace has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Porter, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Pace keep running through batters, or will the Cowboys buck the trend?

Pace got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Porter by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
