East Mecklenburg hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost five straight) but thanks in part to Jurnee Darling that streak is no more. The East Mecklenburg Eagles came out on top against the Central Cabarrus Vikings by a score of 50-37 on Wednesday thanks in part to Darling, who went 9 of 16 on her way to 20 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.
Another player making a difference was Kameyah Brown, who posted seven points and six boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.
Central Cabarrus' loss came despite strong showings from Daniyah Burton and Myajah Nix. Burton dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Nix earned 11 points and seven boards. Lilly Rouse also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
East Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Central Cabarrus, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg will head out to challenge Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Butler will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something East Mecklenburg surely won't give up without a fight. Central Cabarrus has already played their next matchup (against South Rowan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
