Rocky Mount Academy has gone 8-2 against Kerr-Vance Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Eagles will take on the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Rocky Mount Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Rocky Mount Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Harrells Christian Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Eagles never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Seth Tickel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Jordan Creech-Jones was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Rocky Mount Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gehrig Miller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Rocky Mount Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Kerr-Vance Academy came up short against Pungo Christian Academy on Tuesday and fell 9-5.
Thomas Wilson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Rocky Mount Academy's record is now 6-4. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rocky Mount Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kerr-Vance Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Rocky Mount Academy's way against Kerr-Vance Academy in their previous meeting back in March, as Rocky Mount Academy made off with an 18-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
