Basketball Recap: Mikel Miller Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sterling

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Colorado Academy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-49 victory over the Sterling Tigers. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Colorado Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikel Miller, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Miller a new career-high in assists (eight). Another player making a difference was River Hamm, who shot 55% from the field en route to 17 points.

Colorado Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 16-6 when they've passed the ball that well.

Colorado Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 16-9.

Colorado Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-37 win against University on the 12th. Sterling does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
