Soccer Game Preview: Lane Tech vs. Maine West

The Lane Tech Champions will challenge the Maine West Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lane Tech is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Lane Tech's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over Amundsen. Considering Lane Tech have won 12 contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Amundsen from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Maine West was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Glenbrook South, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Maine West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Glenbrook South are ranked 40th).

Lane Tech's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight games. As for Maine West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Lane Tech took their victory against Maine West when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Champions repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
