Baseball Game Preview: Dowling Catholic Maroons vs. Ankeny Hawks

The Dowling Catholic Maroons will face off against the Ankeny Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Dowling Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Indianola, who was ranked fifth at the time (Dowling Catholic was ranked 23rd). The Maroons lost 15-1 to the Indians on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Maroons have suffered since June 22, 2024.

Ankeny not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since June 14th (when they won 11-1). Everything went their way against North Scott as they made off with a 12-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Ankeny's win bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Dowling Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Dowling Catholic took their victory against Ankeny in their previous matchup on June 11th by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Maroons repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
