League recap: St. Pauls gains ground in national rankings

2A/1A Three Rivers recap Oct. 30, 2012

St. Pauls made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,637 from 6,943. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 54-8 victory over Fairmont last week.

The Bulldogs led 2A/1A Three Rivers in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on the Golden Tornadoes. Kane Banner threw for 90 yards and one touchdown and ran for 100 yards in the win.

St. Pauls' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Malik Livingston helped St. Pauls' passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.

Javon Crawford was the best wideout in the league this week as Trey Sasser's team defeated Fairmont. Crawford racked up three receptions for 58 yards.

Jhamel Leonard made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs bested James Atkinson's team. The 5-foot-8 senior pulled down one interception.

Red Springs's Blake Greene and Zachary Leach have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Greene has thrown for 2066 yards this season, while Leach, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 41 catches for 672 yards. Shawn Williams from St. Pauls leads the league in rushing with 1824 yards.
