Baseball Game Preview: Tremont Turks vs. Pekin Dragons

The Tremont Turks will face off against the Pekin Dragons at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Tremont nor Pekin posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tremont is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Illini Bluffs just ended the team's 13-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Pekin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Limestone, falling 11-1.

Pekin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Schwermin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Schwermin's first of the season.

Pekin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Tremont, their loss dropped their record down to 25-5.

Tremont came out on top in a nail-biter against Pekin in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Turks repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
