La Cueva has gone a perfect 10-0 against Eldorado recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bears will look to defend their home court against the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Eldorado took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on La Cueva, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, La Cueva made easy work of Sandia and carried off a 3-0 win.
The final score came out to 25-19, 25-14, 25-14.
La Cueva found their leader in freshman Sofia Flores-Gallegos, who had nine digs and two aces. Kate Woods also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
La Cueva was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Eldorado entered their matchup against Manzano on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Eldorado sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-5.
La Cueva has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
La Cueva took their victory against Eldorado in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
