Basketball Recap: Macie Dill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter over Greenwood Christian Academy

After flying high against Phalen Leadership Academy last Saturday, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter came back down to earth. The Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars on Tuesday. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Macie Dill, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Dill has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Chima Onyia was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points.

Even though they lost, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Greenwood Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Molly Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 boards. Hunter continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Myra Finnity, who put up four points in addition to 14 boards and four steals.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, they moved to 2-13 with that victory, which also ended their ten-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter will host Monrovia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hauser at 7:00 p.m.
