Basketball Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Valor Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 69-52 bruising from the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots. The Owls were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Valor Preparatory Academy lost, don't look at Bishop Witherspoon. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 16 on his way to 28 points and six rebounds. That was a full 53.8% of Valor Preparatory Academy's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Dane Colbert was another key player, putting up seven points along with ten boards and three blocks.

John Carmichael continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Piedmont Community Charter, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Carmichael is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Grant, who put up seven points and five steals.

Valor Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Piedmont Community Charter, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.
