Thanks to an impressive five-day stretch in which it landed two Top 100 players, Alabama has surged to No. 1 in the 2013 Team Recruiting Rankings.

Last week, the Crimson Tide received commitments from quarterback Cooper Bateman and defensive end Jonathan Allen, to add to an impressive group that already featured Reuben Foster and O.J. Howard. Alabama now has verbal commitments from eight players in the Top 100, more than any team in the country.

Michigan, the national leader in verbal commitments, slides to No. 2.

Enjoying a big jump in the rankings is USC, which moves up to No. 6, on the strength of commitments from the nation's top running back Ty Isaac and Justin Davis, California's top running back.

1. Alabama
Number of verbal commitments: 14
Key recruit: Reuben Foster
Still on the board: Robert Nkemdiche
Next year's name to know: Bo Scarborough
2015 recruit to follow: Kerryon Johnson
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jared Stewart
This class has risen in the past week, gaining commitments from Cooper Bateman and Jonathan Allen. If a few more recruits go in favor of the Crimson Tide, it could take this group from a No. 1 class to an all-time great haul.

2. Michigan
Number of verbal commitments: 18
Key recruit: Shane Morris
Still on the board: Laquon Treadwell
Next year's name to know: Malik McDowell
2015 recruit to follow: Jayru Campbell
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Terrance Davis
This is still an exceptionally deep class and one that Michigan fans are excited about. However, the Wolverines missed on E.J. Levenberry and Ty Isaac, two players who would have made this class nearly impossible to top.

3. Texas
Number of verbal commitments: 14
Key recruit: Tyrone Swoopes
Still on the board: Robbie Rhodes
Next year's name to know: Nick Harvey
2015 recruit to follow: Zach Rogers
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Kameron Walker
Texas did the heavy lifting for its recruiting class in February and March and augmented it with a commitment from defensive back Antwuan Davis. The Longhorns may look to add another interior defensive lineman, and a running back wouldn't hurt either.

4. Florida
Number of verbal commitments: 16
Key recruit: Ahmad Fulwood
Still on the board: Vernon Hargreaves III
Next year's name to know: Vincent Jackson
2015 recruit to follow: Jacques Patrick
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jalin Buie
This is already an impressive class with plenty of room to grow. The Gators remain in the running for at least three other Top 100 recruits that Will Muschamp will look to add before February.

5. Georgia
Number of verbal commitments: 17
Key recruit: Derrick Henry
Still on the board: Montravius Adams
Next year's name to know: Raekwon McMillan
2015 recruit to follow: Arden Key
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Benjamin Lemay
In Brice Ramsey and Derrick Henry, Mark Richt has secured some major offensive weapons. In Tray Matthews, he's done the same on defense. Landing one or two more top recruits would make this class a lock for a Top 10 finish.

6. USC
Number of verbal commitments: 7
Key recruit: Max Browne
Still on the board: Su'a Cravens
Next year's name to know: Todd Kelly
2015 recruit to follow: Iman Marshall
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Tre Polamalu
There's not much to say about this class other than that it's incredibly talented. It boasts the nation's top quarterback, two of its top running backs and one of the nation's top defensive linemen. It will likely finish even better.

7. Ohio State
Number of verbal commitments: 11
Key recruit: Jalin Marshall
Still on the board: Jaylon Smith
Next year's name to know: Jimmy Byrne
2015 recruit to follow: Devin Williams
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jaylen Daniels
J.T. Barrett and Ezekiel Elliott are two top players at their respective positions and will fit well in Urban Meyer's offense. The defensive line and defensive secondary are well-stocked. However, with the decommitment of Alex Anzalone, the Buckeyes could use another linebacker.

8. Texas A&M
Number of verbal commitments: 15
Key recruit: Derrick Griffin
Still on the board: Justin Manning
Next year's name to know: Hoza Scott
2015 recruit to follow: Larry Pryor
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Ben St. Pierre
This class has the athletes on offense to compete in the SEC. The bigger need is on the defensive side of the ball, where landing Manning would be an enormous addition to a group that features Isaiah Golden and Kerrick Huggins. Scott, a 2014 recruit, would also help the transition to the SEC.

9. Oklahoma
Number of verbal commitments: 7
Key recruit: Cody Thomas
Still on the board: RaShaad Samples
Next year's name to know: Justice Hansen
2015 recruit to follow: Austin Cantrell
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Cole Parkinson
It may have missed on Max Browne, but Oklahoma landed a good one in quarterback Thomas. He's joined by Keith Ford and Greg Bryant, two of the country's top running backs.

10. Notre Dame
Number of verbal commitments: 12
Key recruit: Steven Elmer
Still on the board: Alex Anzalone
Next year's name to know: Jay Hayes
2015 recruit to follow: Reno Rosene
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Erik Swenson
Deep in offensive linemen, the Irish may close with an even stronger group of defensive linemen if they can close with some combination of Jordan Sherit, Isaac Rochell and/or Tashawn Bower.

11. Auburn
Number of verbal commitments: 9
Key recruit: Dee Liner
Still on the board: Jordan Wilkins
Next year's name to know: Racean Thomas
2015 recruit to follow: Demetrice Vaughn
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Darius Whitfield
Although Auburn just landed its future quarterback in Jeremy Johnson, this class is much deeper on defense. Gaining a commitment from Wilkins would certainly provide an offensive boost.

12. Penn State
Number of verbal commitments: 8
Key recruit: Adam Breneman
Still on the board: Robert Foster
Next year's name to know: Chandler Kincade
2015 recruit to follow: Alex Paulina
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jordan Fuller
A hot start has given way to a tepid spring, as the Nittany Lions haven't landed a recruit since April. However, it is quality over quantity right now. Even with eight recruits, this team is well ahead of last year's pace.

13. Miami
Number of verbal commitments: 6
Key recruit: Alex Collins
Still on the board: Matthew Thomas
Next year's name to know: Sony Michel
2015 recruit to follow: Tim Irvin
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jordan Woods
Al Golden has his quarterback in Kevin Olsen. Now can he land some receivers and offensive linemen to support his prized signal-caller?

14. South Carolina
Number of verbal commitments: 11
Key recruit: D.J. Park
Still on the board: Larenz Bryant
Next year's name to know: Braden Smith
2015 recruit to follow: Kelly Bryant
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Elijah Deveaux
There's no Jadeveon Clowney or Marcus Lattimore in the Palmetto State this season, but the Gamecocks have still done a good job in the Carolinas. They have also proven to be way ahead on the Class of 2014, becoming the first to offer Jabrill Peppers and one of the first to offer Braden Smith.

15. Virginia Tech
Number of verbal commitment: 11
Key recruit: Bucky Hodges
Still on the board: Kendall Fuller
Next year's name to know: Da'Shawn Hand
2015 recruit to follow: Deshawn McClease
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Ellison Jordan
In Hodges and Carlis Parker, the Hokies have an unusually talented quarterback duo. Fans are already looking ahead to a loaded in-state Class of 2014, which could yield incredible returns for Virginia Tech.

16. Florida State
Number of verbal commitments: 8
Key recruit: Austin Golson
Still on the board: E.J. Levenberry
Next year's name to know: Joseph Yearby
2015 recruit to follow: De'Andre Johnson
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Korey Charles
If it can close with the top in-state players, Florida State will enjoy a strong finish and maintain its spot in the Top 20 and perhaps higher. If it falters toward Signing Day, it will be far behind state rival Florida and potentially Miami.

17. Vanderbilt
Number of verbal commitments: 9
Key recruit: Johnathon McCrary
Still on the board: Cornelius Elder
Next year's name to know: Akeem Cooperwood
2015 recruit to follow: Rico McGraw
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Gabe Angel
McCrary is clearly the centerpiece of this class while Elder, a hometown target, hangs in the balance. There's a boon of young in-state talent over the next few recruiting cycles, so James Franklin has a chance to bring in some marquee players without looking too far.

18. Stanford
Number of verbal commitments: 3
Key recruit: Ryan Burns
Still on the board: Jordan Sherit
Next year's name to know: Coltin Gerhart
2015 recruit to follow: Canton Kaumatule
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jared Goldwire
With only three recruits, it might be hard to justify having Stanford in the Top 20. However, there are schools with many more commitments who'd be happy to swap for the Cardinal's talented trio.

19. LSU
Number of verbal commitments: 11
Key recruit: John Diarse
Still on the board: Laremy Tunsil
Next year's name to know: Jabrill Peppers
2015 recruit to follow: Nick Brossette
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Jon Randall Belton
LSU fans are cautiously optimistic about this year's recruiting class after being stung hard last year by Gunner Kiel and Landon Collins. The Tigers landed their quarterback (Hayden Rettig) and now have to lock down top in-state players. Both locally and nationally, 2014 could be a very good year on the recruiting trail.

20. North Carolina
Number of verbal commitments: 9
Key recruit: R.J. Prince
Still on the board: Peter Kalambayi
Next year's name to know: Jonathan Lloyd
2015 recruit to follow: Lee Autry
For serious recruitniks only (2016): Brian Manuel
This class is well-stocked with offensive skill players, but currently lacks depth on both sides of the line. Prince is the lone exception; he'll be tasked with blocking for talented quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
