Thanks to an impressive five-day stretch in which it landed two Top 100 players, Alabama has surged to No. 1 in the 2013 Team Recruiting Rankings.
Last week, the Crimson Tide received commitments from quarterback
Cooper Bateman and defensive end
Jonathan Allen, to add to an impressive group that already featured
Reuben Foster and
O.J. Howard. Alabama now has verbal commitments from eight players in the Top 100, more than any team in the country.
Michigan, the national leader in verbal commitments, slides to No. 2.
Enjoying a big jump in the rankings is USC, which moves up to No. 6, on the strength of commitments from the nation's top running back
Ty Isaac and
Justin Davis, California's top running back.

Key recruit:
Reuben FosterStill on the board: Robert NkemdicheNext year's name to know: Bo Scarborough2015 recruit to follow: Kerryon JohnsonFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Jared StewartThis class has risen in the past week, gaining commitments from Cooper Bateman and Jonathan Allen. If a few more recruits go in favor of the Crimson Tide, it could take this group from a No. 1 class to an all-time great haul.
2. MichiganNumber of verbal commitments: 18
Key recruit: Shane MorrisStill on the board: Laquon TreadwellNext year's name to know: Malik McDowell2015 recruit to follow: Jayru CampbellFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Terrance DavisThis is still an exceptionally deep class and one that Michigan fans are excited about. However, the Wolverines missed on
E.J. Levenberry and
Ty Isaac, two players who would have made this class nearly impossible to top.
3. TexasNumber of verbal commitments: 14
Key recruit: Tyrone SwoopesStill on the board: Robbie RhodesNext year's name to know: Nick Harvey2015 recruit to follow: Zach RogersFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Kameron WalkerTexas did the heavy lifting for its recruiting class in February and March and augmented it with a commitment from defensive back
Antwuan Davis. The Longhorns may look to add another interior defensive lineman, and a running back wouldn't hurt either.
4. FloridaNumber of verbal commitments: 16
Key recruit: Ahmad FulwoodStill on the board:
Vernon Hargreaves IIINext year's name to know: Vincent Jackson2015 recruit to follow: Jacques PatrickFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Jalin BuieThis is already an impressive class with plenty of room to grow. The Gators remain in the running for at least three other Top 100 recruits that Will Muschamp will look to add before February.
5. GeorgiaNumber of verbal commitments: 17
Key recruit: Derrick HenryStill on the board: Montravius AdamsNext year's name to know: Raekwon McMillan2015 recruit to follow: Arden KeyFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Benjamin LemayIn
Brice Ramsey and Derrick Henry, Mark Richt has secured some major offensive weapons. In
Tray Matthews, he's done the same on defense. Landing one or two more top recruits would make this class a lock for a Top 10 finish.

It boasts the nation's top quarterback, two of its top running backs and one of the nation's top defensive linemen. It will likely finish even better.
7. Ohio StateNumber of verbal commitments: 11
Key recruit: Jalin MarshallStill on the board: Jaylon SmithNext year's name to know: Jimmy Byrne2015 recruit to follow: Devin WilliamsFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Jaylen DanielsJ.T. Barrett and
Ezekiel Elliott are two top players at their respective positions and will fit well in Urban Meyer's offense. The defensive line and defensive secondary are well-stocked. However, with the decommitment of
Alex Anzalone, the Buckeyes could use another linebacker.
8. Texas A&MNumber of verbal commitments: 15
Key recruit: Derrick GriffinStill on the board: Justin ManningNext year's name to know: Hoza Scott2015 recruit to follow: Larry PryorFor serious recruitniks only (2016): Ben St. PierreThis class has the athletes on offense to compete in the SEC. The bigger need is on the defensive side of the ball, where landing Manning would be an enormous addition to a group that features
Isaiah Golden and
Kerrick Huggins. Scott, a 2014 recruit, would also help the transition to the SEC.

Jadeveon Clowney or
Marcus Lattimore in the Palmetto State this season, but the Gamecocks have still done a good job in the Carolinas. They have also proven to be way ahead on the Class of 2014, becoming the first to offer
Jabrill Peppers and one of the first to offer
Braden Smith.

Gunner Kiel and
Landon Collins. The Tigers landed their quarterback (
Hayden Rettig) and now have to lock down top in-state players. Both locally and nationally, 2014 could be a very good year on the recruiting trail.
20. North CarolinaNumber of verbal commitments: 9
