Recap: Walther Christian Academy Broncos vs. Ida Crown Jewish Academy Aces

After flying high against the Holy Trinity Tigers last Monday, the Walther Christian Academy Broncos came back down to earth. Walther Christian Academy took a 45-29 bruising from Ida Crown Jewish Academy on Tuesday. The match was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Walther Christian Academy couldn't quite close it out.

Walther Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Rivera, who scored 13 points. Saniyya Harvey was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.

Ida Crown Jewish Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ilana Schwartz out in front who scored 18 points. Schwartz is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Linzer, who scored 12 points.

Walther Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Ida Crown Jewish Academy, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Walther Christian Academy and Rochelle Zell Jewish will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Walther Christian Academy is coming into the match with eight straight losses on the road, meaning Rochelle Zell Jewish will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Ida Crown Jewish Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Christ the King at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Christ the King will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Ida Crown Jewish Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
