Softball Recap: Lamar's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lamar waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Crestwood Knights. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-4 back in February.

Abby McManus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor Guinn was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Cheyanne Anderson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Lamar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.

Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Crestwood, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar will head out to face off against Darlington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Silver Foxes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Crestwood, they will challenge Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
