Volleyball Recap: Father Tolton vs. Hallsville Indians
Father Tolton was the 3-1 winner over Hallsville when they last played one another on October 8th, but their luck changed this time around. Father Tolton took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hallsville on Thursday. While Father Tolton didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Hallsville 25-19 in the first set.
Father Tolton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-22.
Lia Giovanini paced Father Tolton's offense, picking up eight kills. Giovanini got some help from Ainsley Bukowsky and her 17 assists. Giovanini was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Hallsville was led to victory by Makenzie Lucas and Brityn Sievers. Lucas had 23 digs and two assists, while Sievers had six digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Sievers is now averaging an impressive 12.2 assists per game.
Father Tolton's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-13-1. As for Hallsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11-3 record this season.
