Softball Recap: Oroville Takes a Loss

Oroville had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it eight. They lost 8-2 to the Live Oak Lions. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 12-11 to the Lions when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Oroville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie McDonald, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jenessa Igot was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Live Oak, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Live Oak's side, Melina Jurado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Jurado has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Live Oak got a big performance out of Alexa Medina, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleena Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oroville will challenge rival Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Live Oak is set to square off against their familiar foe Las Plumas at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
