Football Recap: West Tallahatchie Choctaws vs. North Panola Cougars
After flying high against Ashland last Friday, West Tallahatchie came back down to earth. The Choctaws were just a hair shy of victory on Thursday and fell 39-38 to the North Panola Cougars. The defeat came about despite the Choctaws having been up 26 in the second quarter.
Kordell Robinson threw for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Jamerrius Johnson was his top target, picking up 104 receiving yards and one TD.
A big part of North Panola's victory came down to the chemistry between Keemauri Waldrup and his top target Marco Goings. Waldrup threw for 343 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt while Goings picked up 129 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
West Tallahatchie's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for North Panola, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
West Tallahatchie will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coffeeville at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. This will be the Choctaws' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for North Panola, they will head out to challenge Coahoma County at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The contest will also give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
