Softball Recap: Quincy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Augusta Southeastern

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Quincy). They put the hurt on the Augusta Southeastern Suns with a sharp 29-4 win on Wednesday. The Blue Devils have beaten the Suns the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Suns has come to flipping the script.

Ivy Winter and Avary Hlubek did most of the damage at the plate: Winter went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Hlubek got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Hlubek a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maggie Neally, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Quincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. They are 4-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Quincy's victory bumped their record up to 11-18. As for Augusta Southeastern, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Coming up, Quincy will welcome Geneseo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maple Leafs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. Augusta Southeastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
