Washington and Purcell are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Washington's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Heritage Hall hitters got past them. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 18-10 margin over the Chargers on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jackson Mays, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. LD Vinzant was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Purcell made easy work of Cache on Tuesday and carried off a 12-1 victory.

Purcell has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.

Everything went Washington's way against Purcell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Washington made off with a 15-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
