Baseball Recap: Illini Bluffs' Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Illini Bluffs extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-5 in the process. They came out on top against the Havana Ducks by a score of 4-1. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ducks, too.

Drew Dunn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, Illini Bluffs' victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Toby Cooper, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Cooper has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Brendan Bacon was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Havana, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15. The defeat was just more heartbreak for they who fell 6-4 when the teams previously met back in May of 2016.

On Havana's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Carter Brooks gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

Looking ahead, Illini Bluffs is taking a road trip to square off against Peoria Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Havana, they will be playing at home against Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
