Basketball Game Preview: Midlothian Heritage Jaguars vs. Midlothian Panthers

Midlothian Heritage is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Midlothian is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars duke it out with the Midlothian Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Midlothian Heritage will head into Saturday's match having proved themselves against Kaufman: Midlothian Heritage took a 23-point defeat the last time they faced off against Kaufman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Midlothian Heritage had just enough and edged Kaufman out 38-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since December 5, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Midlothian Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Batty, who posted 15 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Batty has scored at least a third of Midlothian Heritage's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Finch, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, Midlothian won against Crandall on Tuesday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Everything went Midlothian's way against Terrell as Midlothian made off with a 57-35 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Tigers are ranked 677th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midlothian's win bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Midlothian Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Midlothian Heritage was able to grind out a solid victory over Midlothian when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 38-28. Will Midlothian Heritage repeat their success, or does Midlothian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
