Baseball Game Preview: Mosinee Indians vs. Rhinelander Hodags

Mosinee is 9-1 against Rhinelander since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Indians will head out on the road to take on the Hodags at 5:00 p.m. Mosinee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Mosinee was able to grind out a solid victory over Northland Pines, taking the game 5-2.

Ethan Oatman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Tyler Baars was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

Mosinee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Rhinelander made sure to put some runs up on the board against Antigo on Tuesday. The Hodags came out on top against the Red Robins by a score of 11-8. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Mosinee's record is now 9-5. As for Rhinelander, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.

Mosinee beat Rhinelander 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
