Basketball Recap: East Palestine Comes Up Short

After soaring to 83 points the game before, East Palestine was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They took a blow against the Springfield Tigers, falling 65-26. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why East Palestine lost, don't look at Landyn Cope. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Cope a new career-high in blocks.

Even though they lost, East Palestine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

East Palestine has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Springfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-10.

East Palestine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-57 victory against Rootstown on the 11th. As for Springfield, they will head out to challenge Western Reserve at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western Reserve will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Springfield surely won't give up without a fight.
