Baseball Recap: Lowell Wins Going Away Against Hebron

While Lowell didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Hebron Hawks on Thursday. With that victory, the Red Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Caden Thompson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lowell got a massive performance out of Zak Scharnke, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Huber, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lowell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.2.

Lowell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hebron, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Lowell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Crown Point on the 2nd. As for Hebron, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Morgan Township on the 2nd.
