Football Recap: Mohave's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mohave walked away with it. They came out on top against the Northwest Christian Crusaders by a score of 42-34 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Thunderbirds, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Mohave had a senior duo take command as Deegan Perry gained 156 total yards and four touchdowns and Joe Yoney threw for 228 yards and three TDs. Yoney also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Mohave was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Mohave didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Yoney and Pedro Marentes. Yoney is also on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Despite the defeat, Northwest Christian had strong showings from Laki Wallwork, who threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns, and Malachi Chavez, who picked up 88 receiving yards and three scores.

Mohave's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Northwest Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Mohave will be playing at home against ALA - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwest Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
