Baseball Game Preview: Memorial Roughriders vs. Van Wert Cougars

The Memorial Roughriders will head out on the road to face off against the Van Wert Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Van Wert took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Memorial, who comes in off a win.

Memorial barely beat New Knoxville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Roughriders put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 13-3 victory on Monday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Roughriders this season.

Meanwhile, Van Wert fell victim to Wapakoneta and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Redskins. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging 3.67 runs allowed.

Van Wert's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Memorial suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Van Wert when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Roughriders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
