Basketball Game Preview: Grand Valley Cardinals vs. Roaring Fork Rams

Grand Valley has gone 8-2 against Roaring Fork recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Grand Valley Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Roaring Fork Rams at 2:30 p.m.

Grand Valley came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 52-26 to Cedaredge. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Bruins are ranked 58th).

Despite the defeat, Grand Valley had strong showings from Taylor Pittman, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Camden Stevens, who posted ten points. Pittman is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played. Leah Stark also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Roaring Fork came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 win over the Cowboys.

Roaring Fork pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Grand Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Grand Valley might still be hurting after the 54-31 defeat they got from Roaring Fork in their previous meeting back in January. Can Grand Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
