Baseball Game Preview: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Gibault Catholic Hawks

Valmeyer hasn't had much luck against Gibault Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will challenge the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Valmeyer has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Valmeyer is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Saturday. They lost 16-4 to Wesclin.

Meanwhile, Gibault Catholic came up short against Freeburg on Saturday and fell 6-3. The Hawks have struggled against the Midgets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Carson Timmons was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Layne Wilkens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Valmeyer's record now sits at 6-14. As for Gibault Catholic, their record is now 5-13.

Valmeyer couldn't quite get it done against Gibault Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
