Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Barren County

After only two runs in their last contest, Barren County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Warren East on Tuesday. The Trojans walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Raiders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 last Monday.

Barren County got a great performance from Cameron Crawford as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Crawford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Reece, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Skylar Potter was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Barren County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.

Barren County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Warren East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barren County will challenge Grayson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Warren East, they will face off against Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
