Softball Recap: Oasis Academy Has No Trouble Against Battle Mountain

Oasis Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Battle Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Oasis Academy was the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over Battle Mountain on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bighorns needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Kirsten Detomasi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Detomasi was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Lewis, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Taylynn Maynez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Oasis Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Oasis Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.67 in the others. Battle Mountain's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.
